I’ve been a frustrated designer over the past few weeks, my apple wireless mouse kept on disconnecting and reconnecting randomly, and it always seemed to know when I was busy! After playing with mouse itself (bash bash – very technical), cleaning it, disconnecting all my other bluetooth devices in the whole house – here’s where I started to get a bit desperate for a solution. I cleaned the batteries, cleaned the contacts of the mouse, and got online to do a bit of research I finally discovered the solution. Not all AA batteries are equal!

Apparently there’s a minor design flaw in the design of the magic mouse within the battery compartment. (Apple a flaw! Gasp!) At first I thought no don’t be silly it can’t be true. But the proof was in my level of annoyance, and the difference sizings between super heavy duty and regular AA batteries. Take a look, theres a slight difference – about 2mm. This 2mm was the cause of my constant dramatical  actions directed at my poor iMac.

I had to share my findings, how could I not? Knowing that out there could be other misunderstood, annoyed Mac users having a troubled time, all because of one little device and some battery sizing issues. It has been said that Apple’s own branded AA batteries fit well. I’ll let you make your own choices. I haven’t yet tried them.
